PURPOSE:To make it possible to efficiently perform a recognition processing for a target object and to prevent an erroneous recognition by storing only an edge whose sharpness becomes a maximum in a memory. CONSTITUTION:By adjusting the focus of a lens 14, image data G1 focused on a target object and image data G2 and G3 focused on the location which is apart by a distance Dw in front of and behind the target object are inputted in a microcomputer 16. The microcomputer 16 extracts an edge from the image data G1 and detects the sharpness S1 to S3 of the image data G1 to G3 for this edge. Further, the microcomputer 16 compares the sharpness S1 to S3, specifies the only edge where the sharpness S1 becomes a maximum and stores this edge in a result image memory 28. As a result, the only line segment on the target object is stored in the result image memory 28. |
