PURPOSE:To obtain the lithium secondary battery, which has a large discharging capacity and a large charging and discharging efficiency, by using the material, which is obtained by baking a mesophase small spherical body at the specified temperature rising speed for carbonization, for electrode of a battery. CONSTITUTION:A mesophase small spherical body is baked at the temperature rising speed of 40 deg.C/hour or less so as to form the carbon material for electrode of a lithium secondary battery. The final reaching temperature of the baking is set at about 450-3000 deg.C. Carbon material for electrode of the lithium battery is manufactured by carbonizing the mesophase small spherical body, which is formed of quinoline insoluble part at 89.5weight% or more and the toluene insoluble part at 93.6weight% or more. Or the mesophase small spherical body is crushed into the grains at 1.3-15mum of grain diameter D50 at 50% by volume in the distribution of commulative frequency, and these grains are carbonized at 600-1500 deg.C, or crushed more into the grains at 1.8-15mum of grain diameter D50 at 50% by volume in the distribution of commulative frequency so as to form the carbon material for electrode of a lithium battery. Discharging capacity and the charging and discharging efficiency are increased by using this carbon material for an electrode of a secondary battery. |
