The array includes a number of omnidirectional radiating elements whose reception signals are weighted by complex weighting coefficients. This allows adjustment of their phase and their amplitude. The reception signals are summed by a beam formation circuit to synthesise the reception channels. In order to reduce the effect of parasitic signals caused by the lobes of the response diagram of the aerial, the aerial uses a number of aerial sub-assemblies (20). Each of these includes certain fixed elements (21,22,23,24) and certain elements (25,26,27) whose phase shift is adjustable.
