PURPOSE:To provide a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery having favorable discharge characteristics after storage, and having excellent long-period reliability by providing a negative electrode plate, a positive electrode plate on which a specific positive electrode active material layer is formed, and a separator provided between the negative electrode plate and the positive electrode plate. CONSTITUTION:In a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery comprising a negative electrode plate, a positive electrode plate having a positive electrode active material layer mainly comprising active material of powder of a formula of LixMO2 (0.05<=x<=1.10; M is mixture Co, Ni, Fe, and Mn, or two elements selected among these) formed on the surface of a metal collector, and a separator provided between the negative electrode plate and the positive electrode plate, oxidizer is added to the mix layer of the positive electrode active material. The positive electrode plate is obtained by mixing compound of the formula with oxidizer, conductive agent, and binding agent, and composing an electrode plate of the positive electrode. The oxidizer added to the positive electrode acts as catalyst to decompose organic coating generated on the positive electrode active material during high-temperature storage with priority. Formation of the coating on the surface of the active material can thus be prevented. |
