PURPOSE:To provide an image recorder capable of obtaining a stable image by preventing fogging on the white background part of the image and reducing the fluctuation of image density and the line width of a line image. CONSTITUTION:A photoreceptor 1 is electrostatically charged by a charger 2 and exposed by an exposure light source 3 so that a ternary charge latent image is formed. Then, the latent image is developed by developing devices 4 and 6 to form a two-color toner image. In such a case, based on the content of a signal source 10, surface voltage corresponding to the white background part is detected by a surface voltage sensor 18 and the surface potential of the background part is kept within a fixed range by controlling electrostatic charging voltage or exposing light quantity. |
