DEVICE FOR DISCRIMINATING TYPE OF VEHICLE AND TOLL AREA MANAGEMENT DEVICE

PURPOSE:To provide an easy-to-install and accurate device for discriminating the type of car by discriminating the type of car from the recognized number plate and the measured car width. CONSTITUTION:Three laser radars 13a-13c are arranged in parallel vertically against the access road on a ceiling 12 at the access side from a toll gate (booth) 11. The radars 13a-13c are irradiated just down and the car width is measured by the reflection time. A camera 14 and illumination lights 15a and 15b are set at the ceiling 12 near the toll gate 11, which comprises the car number plate reader. When a car 18 arrives, the image of the number plate part is picked up and the dimension of the number plate or the car type code are recognized by the picture. The type of car is discriminated by the number plate and the car width.
