PURPOSE:To prevent illegal use by placing a limit onto an image read function depending on the user of specific information registered by a registration means. CONSTITUTION:A password storage circuit 9 stores a set password. A basic resolution of a line image sensor 1 is 600dpi and has a function of 12-600dpi as a range of reading resolution, and a limit of reading by a resolution of 12-75dpi only is placed at application of power. When a password of 1234 is given from an external information device as a start password, the limit placed on the resolution of 75-150dpi is released and the setting of image reading by the resolution of 12-150dpi is made and the mode is transited to the command reception wait mode relating to image reading. When a password of 3456 is given from the external information device as at start password, the limit placed on the resolution of 75-300dpi is released and the setting of image reading by the resolution of 12-300dpi is made. When a start password of 5678 is given from the external information device, the limit placed on the resolution of 75-600dpi is released and the setting of image reading by the resolution of 12-600dpi is made. When the password different from those above is received, the reading of image is made available only with the resolution of 12-75dpi applied at application of power. |
