PURPOSE: To provide a gas laser being small-sized and having a large output by utilizing a radial arrangement of slab discharge gaps and the technique of a hollow resonator. CONSTITUTION: An array of slab type amplifying channels formed of discharge regions 14 of narrow gaps by radially arranging electrodes 10 with tapered cross sections provided with water circulation paths 12. Further, a laser excitation energy source excitating an active medium of a laser is connected to the respective amplifying channels by using resonance circuits of a hollow type matched with respective amplifying channels. Further, on the other hand, respective electrode pairs sandwitching a discharge region become transmitting lines so as to generate a progressive wave by excitation of the electrode. When the gas inside the discharge region 14 is excited so as to cause laser oscillation, generated heat is taken into the electrode and this heat is transmitted to the water flowing in the water circulation paths 12 for being cooled. As the result, a laser being small-sized with big output can be realized. |
