PURPOSE:To enable displaying pictures of high precision with display elements of low resolution and to provide an optical wobbling display device by polarization rotation with which contrast improving effect to a polarization screen for improving contrast is obtained. CONSTITUTION:Polarization planes of display light from LCD1 are rotated by a first polarization plane rotating elements 3 at respective fields, an optical path of one field is shifted toward others by passing through a double refractive optical elements 2 and thereby pixels are apparently doubled. Further, polarization plane of the display light at one field in which polarization plane of the light exited from the double refractive optical elements 2 is rotated is adversely rotated by arranging a second polarization plane rotating element 6 behind the double refractive optical elements 2. In such a manner, contrast improving effect is obtained by returning polarization plane of the field to fixing (usually perpendicular) and unifying polarization directions of the respective fields to a polarization direction of one polarization screen 5. |
