<p>A storage vessel holds liquid hydrogen. The novelty is that a very large pump is secured to the wall of the storage vessel; that the upper end of the pump projects into the gas storage space, and that an evaporator-heater is incorporated within this space and secured to the upper end of the pump or within the pump; that a supply pipe leads to the interior of the storage vessel and ends in a sprinkler rose; and that an overflow vessel is located at the upper end of the pump, from which leads an overflow pipe. Several metal baffles are arranged vertically and in parallel within the storage vessel. The pump operation is initiated and stopped by a pressure sensor located within the gas storage space. USE/ADVANTAGE - The assembly stores liquid hydrogen for use as an energy source for combustion engines. The arrangement minimises unwanted pressure varitions, and accelerates the refuelling process which in addition is simpler and safer.</p> |
