<p>PURPOSE:To quantitatively and effectively remove acid impurities and to improve electric characteristics by producing a resin by suspension polymn. in the presence of alkali metal carbonate and if necessary, after the polymn., subjecting the resin to heat treatment. CONSTITUTION:This resin for a toner consists of a styrene or styrene/acryl resin produced by suspension polynm. in the presence of a peroxide-based polynm. initiator having benzoyl groups or benzoyl groups containing substituents while using water as a medium. The resin is produced by suspension polymn. in the presence of alkali metal carbonate. If necessary, after the polymn., the resin is heat treated at 50 to 140 deg.C. The styrene or styrene/acryl resin for a toner consists of a homopolymer of styrene monomers or a copolymer of styrene monomers and acryl monomers. If necessary, polyfunctional monomers or other polymerizable monomers can be incorporated into these polymers as structural units.</p> |
