PURPOSE:To provide an apparatus, which can perform a judgement close to human visual sense when a defect in image quality such as density irregularities in copy paper is to be inspected, ad readily prepare a judging reference and has an excellent operability. CONSTITUTION:A measuring-area setting part 19 assigns a measuring area comprising one or more minimum divided regions for the variable-density data, which are developed in two dimensions with a variable-density-data recording part 18, and sequentially expands the area. A variable-density dispersing part 20 measures the dispersed value of the density for every measuring area. A reference setting part 21 prepare a judging reference value from the dispersed value of the density for every measuring area when a good product is measured and registers the value into a good-product reference data memory part 23. A judging part 22 compares the dispersed value of the density and the judging reference value for every measuring region and judges the defect of the image quality having the density irregularities. |
