摘要 <p>PURPOSE:To attain partial reproduction of compressed image data at a high speed. CONSTITUTION:A coder 11 converts an input image signal 100 into compression data 101 of the JPEG system. A main processing system 18 reads the compressed data 101 in a buffer 15 in the unit of bytes to a data bus 17 and registers the data to a file 120 of a storage device 19. Thus, the correspondence between a restart marker code and a byte address of compressed data 101 is stored in the file 120 as an address table 130 for each of prescribed number of blocks forming the compression data 101. When the recorded image is reproduced partially, the main processing system 18 uses the address table 130 to detect the address of the restart marker code of the block and reads the block of the compressed data 101 from the address and gives it to the decoder 30. The decoder 30 expands it to output an image signal 150. When recorded data are transferred to a remote location, compression data 140 resulting from including the address table 130 to the recording data 101 are sent from a communication equipment 40.</p>
