The main cylinder (1) is coupled to a servo vessel (2). A braking line (3) leads from the main cylinder to at least one wheel brake (6). A return flow line (7) runs from the latter (6) to a low pressure storage vessel (9). A return conveying pump (11) has its suction side connected to the low pressure storage vessel and its pressure side to the braking line (3). The coupling path between the low pressure storage vessel and the main cylinder includes a non-return valve arrangement (5,16) which permits the compressed medium stream to flow from the low pressure storage vessel to the main cylinder but blocks it in the opposite direction.
