Waveguide-stripline output coupler for transceiver with same polarity transmission-reception signals

The power coupler has a substrate on which is formed a planar circuit in a plane transverse to the longitudinal axis of the rectangular waveguide (1). The power is decoupled from the waveguide by an E-field coupling probe. One or more such probes are positioned freely on one or more of the waveguide's narrow sides (2a,b). Alternatively both narrow sides of the waveguide carry at least one E-field coupling probe. Pref. the E-field coupling probes are identical and symmetrically located on the substrate w.r.t. the waveguide centre point. The planar circuit is typically fitted at an angle of 90 deg. transverse to the waveguide longitudinal axis.
