An oxidatively drying, aqueous coating, in particular for cataphoretic deposition on metal surfaces, contains a binder with or without an organic solvent and customary auxiliaries. The binder comprises water-soluble or water-dispersible addition compounds of one or more amines and epoxidised butadiene homopolymers or copolymers that are liquid at 20 DEG C, the addition compounds having been at least partially neutralised with acid compounds. 100 g of addition compound contain at least 50 atom mg of nitrogen. The epoxidised butadiene homopolymers or copolymers have a double-bond content corresponding to an iodine number from 150 to 410 and an epoxide content - calculated as oxygen - from 2.5 to 10 per cent by weight. The base polymer for the epoxidised butadiene homopolymer or copolymer has at least 50 mol per cent of butadiene units and a number average molecular weight from 500 to 5000.
