摘要 <p>Upper electrodes (10, 11) and a lower electrode (2) are so provided as to be at right angles to each other on a base board (1) of a liquid crystal display, and two non-linear resistance elements (13, 14) are formed by the upper electrodes, an insulating film and the lower electrode. Either of the upper electrodes is connected to a signal electrode (9), the other connected to a display electrode (12) which constitutes a display image element. A connection portion (4) by which an anodic oxidation electrode (3) and the lower electrode (2) are connected together is partly cut off and so the lower electrode is insular. The display electrode (12) has an overlapping portion (15), where a two-layer film comprising the metal film of the joint portion (4) and the insulating film is left, under the display electrode (12). Owing to this arrangement, the asymmetric current-voltage characteristic due to the voltage applied to the signal electrode (a) is turned symmetric, and the DC component of the voltage applied to a liquid crystal layer is decreased. A decrease in the quality of the liquid crystal, a decrease in the contrast, and the occurrence of an image sticking phenomenon which are a flickering phenomenon and an after-image phenomenon are prevented.</p>
