A support structure (10) for the sleeping human form is disclosed, the structure comprising a substantially horizontal sleeping area (12) at least part of the edges (13) of which are folded under to support the sleeping area from beneath. A mat (15) is designed to be releasably secured to the structure, and includes a first surface bearing an array of small protuberances (16) and a substantially flat second surface, the mat being perforated via holes (17) over at least a major part of its area.
