A boat trailer (1) comprising a chassis with a main member (3) mounted on at least one wheel set (5), and a hitch (31) at the front of the trailer (1) for coupling to a towing vehicle. Said chassis comprises at least one assembly (7, 9) that is retractable relative to said main member (3) of the chassis and may be moved from a retracted position to an extended position so that in the retracted position, the longitudinal space occupied by the trailer (1) is much smaller than in the extended position.
