<p>The archive system (1) has remote transmission units (2) which digitise and encrypt document information, allowing documents to be transmitted by telephone links for storage in the storage unit remotely. The archive system has a command store (19) and a processor (18). The processor can be accessed remotely by telephone. A security word sound allows transmission verbally of the documents stored. The subscriber then presses a telephone button for the document required, and the encrypted information is passed via telephone lines to a subscriber decoder.
