The battery has a plastics outer casing with integral ribs (1) projecting inwards from the sidewalls and the internal partition walls (3) of the casing, for defining the width of the battery cells and retaining the battery plate blocks. Each of the ribs is divided at its outer end into 2 arms (2) projecting in opposite directions, to provide a T cross-section, with the ribs connected to the base of the casing over their full cross-section. Alternatively the projecting arms at the ends of each rib are angled to provide a Y cross-section and each arm is of similar length to the length of the first section of the rib projecting from the casing wall. <IMAGE> |
