PURPOSE:To obtain a sensitizer for the medicine sensitivity of a microorganism acquiring the resistance to an antibiotic substance, containing a polyphenol compound or a green tea extract as an active ingredient and usable especially in the field of chemotherapy of infectious diseases. CONSTITUTION:This sensitizer for the medicine sensitivity of a microorganism resistant to an antibiotic substance contains 0.01-99wt.% 10-50C polyphenol compound having 5-20 OH groups (e.g. epigallocatechin gallate) or an extract of green tea separated with water or an organic solvent (e.g. methyl alcohol) as an active ingredient. The polyphenol compound is excellent in suppressing actions on the manifestation or induction of the resistance of the microorganism to the antibiotic substance and has effects on sensitization of antibiotic sensitivity of the microorganism acquiring the resistance thereto by using thereof with the antibiotic substance. Escherichia coli, enterococci, Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, etc., are cited as the resistant microorganism and penicillin G, streptomycin, kanamycin, etc., are cited as the antibiotic substance. The active ingredient is prepared as a pharmaceutical preparation according to a conventional method and orally or parenterally administered in 1mg to 10g daily dose 1-4 times. |
