PURPOSE:To produce a high-strength polyester fiber, excellent in dimensional stability to heat and suitable for industrial materials, especially for reinforcing belts with a good operating efficiency. CONSTITUTION:This method for producing polyester fibers for industrial materials is to melt-spin a polyethylene terephthalate having 0.8-1.1 intrinsic viscosity or a polyester consisting essentially thereof, pass the resultant filaments through a heating cylinder just under a spinneret, cool the filaments with a cylindrical type cooler, then apply a spinning oiling agent consisting essentially of a composition comprising (A) 5-40wt.% ester of an aliphatic alcohol with an aliphatic carboxylic acid such as dioleyl thiodipropionate and (B) 95-60wt.% adduct of ethylene oxide and/or propylene oxide and an aliphatic alcohol such as polyoxyethylene-added oleyl ether by a roller type oiling method, take off the filaments as an undrawn yarn crystallized at a low orientation degree at >=3000m/min speed and subsequently apply a finishing oiling agent containing >=60wt.% adduct of ethylene oxide and/or propylene oxide and an aliphatic amine such as polyoxyethylene-added laurylamino ether to the resultant yarn just before hot drawing and winding the yarn. |
