STONY TONE COMPOSITION

PURPOSE:To obtain a stony tone composition capable of being processed by press molding and producing an article having high class image and excellent in durability. CONSTITUTION:An inorganic material is produced by compounding 65-75wt.% of natural marble powder having >=85wt.% of powder of 1-2mm in particle diameters with 25-35wt.% of inorganic filler. A matrix is constructed with 8-35wt.% of a normal acrylic resin and 65-92wt.% of a polymerizable monomer mixture of methyl methacrylate and a polyfunctional monomer copolymerizable with methyl methacrylate. The objective composition is obtained by compounding 100 pts.wt. of the inorganic material with 8-30 pts.wt. of the matrix followed by adding a thermal polymerization initiator of 0.15-0.4% based on the matrix in terms of the amount of active oxygen to the obtained mixture.
