摘要 PURPOSE:To provide a method for laser beam machining by which a mild steel sheet, etc., can be more speedily cut. CONSTITUTION:A condenser lens 10a is provided in a working head 10. A laser beam 11 is converged by this condenser lens 10a, and a work is irradiated by the laser beam 11. An assist gas inlet 10b is provided on the side surface of the working head 10, and an oxygen gas cylinder 90 and an inert gas cylinder 91 are connected to the assist gas inlet 10b. Gas supplied to the assist gas inlet 10b is spouted out toward the work from a nozzle at the tip of the working head 10. In addition, solenoid valves 90a and 91a are provided respectively on the oxygen gas cylinder 90 and the inert gas cylinder 91, and the opening and the closing of valves can be electrically controlled. When cutting the work, it is necessary to previously find a saturated cutting speed by an experiment, etc. And, when a cutting speed is less than the saturated cutting speed, oxygen gas is supplied to the assist gas inlet 10b. Also, when the cutting speed is the saturated cutting speed or over, inert gas is supplied to the assist gas inlet 10b.
