PURPOSE:To obtain a new cyclic depsipeptide extracted and isolated from a kind of limnetic blue-green algae, having intense elastase-inhibitory activity, thus hopeful of application as a medicine for pulmonary emphysema involved with smoking, rheumatic arthritis, septicemia, etc. CONSTITUTION:This new cyclic depsipeptide is obtained by extraction and isolation from a kind of limnetic blue-green algae, having structure expressed by the formula and presenting intense elastase-inhibitory activity; therefore, being hopeful of application as a medicine for pulmonary emphysema involved with smoking, rheumatic arthritis, septicemia, etc. Specifically, this new compound is obtained by the following process: a kind of limnetic blue-green algae such as Nostoc-minutum is mass-cultured in a medium, the resultant culture fluid is then lyophilized, and the resultant lyophilized algae is subjected to extraction with methanol; the extract thus obtained is subjected to solvent fractionation with water and ether, and the ether fraction is subjected to Kupchan fractionation, while the active fractionation to flash chromatography, thus accomplishing purification. |
