PURPOSE:To make it possible to avoid motion interruption in the course of image formation by detecting the number and the size of sheet material put on a sorter before an image formation device starting its motion and prohibiting it from starting to make copies in case the total number of sheet materials per storage tray has exceeded a specified value. CONSTITUTION:Immediately after meeting a motion indication by a motion start key on an operation unit 107, a CPU 101 finds the stackable number of sheet materials U from the number of sheet materials stacked on an automatic gathering sorter (sorter) 3 and the maximum stackable number of sheet materials. The size of the sheet materials presently stored in the storage tray of the sorter 3 is found and, if the sorter 3 is in sort mode, the CPU 101 indicates an automatic original feeder 2 to make counting motion of number of original sheets. It judges whether the number of original is less than the stackable number of sheet materials U or not and, if it has exceeded the stackable number of sheet materials U, it casues an indication unit to indicate temporary interruption of the image formation motion and to remove the sheet materials on the storage tray. |
