Medicament for treatment and/or prevention of retrovirus infections comprises phospholipase A2 (PA2) from bee venom (BV). Also claimed are:(a) a compsn. comprising PA2 from BV opt. in association with a diluent or adjuvant, and(b) an association of PA2 from BV and an antiretroviral, antiviral, immuno-modulating or antimicrobial agent, and opt. excipients, for treating retroviral infections.
