Catalytic chamber for exhaust system of IC engine

The catalytic chamber is formed of two equal halves (21 & 22) forming an oval cross-sectional stack of leaves of metallic wafers, with a chevron shape when viewed longitudinally. The leaves are contained within a metallic envelope (26) and are welded together, the envelope being welded laterally to the stack. The leaves are held by ring hoops (24 & 25) fitted at each end of the metallic envelope.
