Micro-tip cathode for flat screen

A micro-tip cathode for a flat image screen has: (a) cathode conductors (13) between a substrate (10) and a grid (3) provided with holes (4) within the meshes defined by the conductors; (b) an insulating layer (16) provided with pits (17) facing the holes (4) and positioned between the conductors (13) and the grid (3); and (c) micro-tips (2) deposited in the pits (17) on a resistive layer (11). The novelty is that the conductors (13) are deposited above the resistive layer (11) and are coated with an auxiliary insulating layer (18), pref. formed by oxidn. of the conductor. Also claimed is a process for producing a micro-tip cathode.
