The body (12) has at each end a cutting lip (24) formed from a number of faces (16,18) with behind it a concave land running down and toward the centre line. Behind the land (26) is a chip breaker raised area (32) which has a height higher than the lip. The breaker has a central recess (28) at the base of the land with two arms running forward from the central body toward the lip. The arms and breaker recess have angled (30,34,36) surfaces which produce an interruption of the swarf flow into chip form.
