A Fourier transformation in a measured data matrix (MD) with the discrete measured data (xj,k) is carried out for all values of k = (0... N-1) in the following steps (a condition being that w=e<-2i pi /N>): (a) the measured data (xj,k) are multiplied using a chirp function (w<j <SIGN> /2>); (b) the resulting data are folded using a second chirp function (w<-(j-k) <SIGN> /2>) and entered into an auxiliary data matrix (HD); (c) the image data matrix is obtained from the auxiliary data matrix (HD) by Fourier transformation in at least one other direction.
