A copper vapor laser which efficiently oscillates continuously by using zinc atoms. The laser is provided with a discharge tube (1) and metallic copper (8) and metallic zinc (9) placed in the tube (1) and can pump copper atoms at a lower lasing level, 5 D5/2 (11,202.565 cm<-1>) (metastable level) to a higher lasing level, 6 P3/2 (57,948.71 cm<-1>).
