A process for making potassium formate, whereby potassium formate and methanol yield from a reaction between formaldehyde and potassium hydroxide. The reaction is carried out in a liquid, preferably aqueous, state at a molar ratio formaldehyde to potassium hydroxide of 1.0:1.0 to 3.0:1.0 and at a temperature of 0-100 DEG C. |
