An artificial kidney comprises: - an exchanger (1) having two compartments (2, 3) separated by a semi-permeable membrane (4), a first compartment (2) being connected to the circuit (5, 7) for extracorporeal circulation of blood, - a source (11) of sterile liquid which can be connected either to the circuit (5, 7) for extracorporeal circulation of blood, or to an entry of the second compartment (3) of the exchanger (1), - control means (24) for controlling the connection of the source (11) of sterile liquid either at the entry of the second compartment (3) of the exchanger (1), or at the circuit (5, 7) for extracorporeal circulation of blood, as a function of the value of the pressure across the membrane. This kidney allows optimal purifying treatment of patients temporarily suffering from renal deficiency. <IMAGE> |
