Silicone rubber seal prodn. of variable accommodation to surface

The seal is esp. suitable for components of internal combustion engines, on drive and peripheral assemblies. A bead of flowing sealant is applied to one surface, as an adherent strand, which then hardens. When the component is installed, the seal shows renewed deformation under the normal installation and operational conditions; it accommodates optimally to the sealed surface. The diameter of the sealing bead, and with it, the material quantity per unit length, is variable, being adapted to the gap geometry to be sealed. Also claimed are: (a) a suitable sealant, (b) prefabricated assembly, and (c) prefabricated component assembly.
