Apparatus for clearing and conducting away settled sludge in round settling tanks of sewage treatment plants by means of clearing suction units, transported by carriages over raking tracks having rake blades and suction lines assigned to the rake blades. The sludge arising over the flat surface of the tank is cleared and conducted away by an apparatus designed as flat as possible and acting on a flat surface, by at least for some raking tracks three or more raking suction units being arranged concentrically, each distributed uniformly.
