A clamp (1) for a holding the substrate (5) of a LCD element during its prodn. processes comprises a base (2) and an adhesive layer (3) on which the surface of (5) can be fixed and which retains a constant adhesive strength with repeated use. (See Fig. 2). Also claimed is a process for the prodn. of (1) by preparing a base (2) and producing on it an adhesive layer (3) as above, which is sticky in the range from room temp. to not above 100 deg.C. Also claimed is a process for the prodn. of LCD elements by sticking a substrate (5) on adhesive layer (3), producing an LCD element on (5) by taking the assembly through the various prodn. stages, separating the LCD element from (1) and attaching a new substrate to repeat the process.
