Process for reclamation of contaminated and or radioactive ground

A process for reclaiming contaminated, especially radioactive, ground. The affected ground is divided into individual areas (1) and each area is provided with a layer of shredded or pulverised granules from cathode ray tubes (2), such as television tubes or computer monitors. The layer (2) is then melted so that it fuses with the surrounding earth in a vitrification process. It can be melted by chemical means or use of a heating flame. The advantage of using the waste cathode ray screens is that the resulting material is conductive and the heating can then be electrical using an anode (3) and cathode (4) for application of the current.
