摘要 The detector field (16) of the scanner is comprised of a large number of detecting elements (18). The detectors are arranged such that the gap between them is reduced, which increases the resolving power of the scanner and therefore gives improved images. The detector elements are shaped as parallelograms and are arranged in a regular diamond shaped mesh. The detection elements of the detector are positioned in straight lines, but are arranged slanted or staggered. By combining the signal from the detector elements during image reconstruction, the effective distance formed by the staggered detector centres is smaller.
