The disc anchor is composed of three flukes pivoted on an inner triangular ring so their points are directed inwards. This inner ring is surrounded by an outer metal ring which can twist through 360 deg round the inner ring with the aid of guides and which is additionally equipped with a chin or hawser eyelet. The flukes swing round with the aid of fitted bushings as engaged by bolts welded onto the inner triangular ring of the anchor. The guides used to control the movement of the outer metal ring also act as end stoppers for the swivel movement of the anchor flukes in service. The ring design transfers the pull of the craft to the anchor flukes to hold position at dropped anchor.
