The equipment is used for sorting out or separating materials of different density from a material mixture, in particular from unwanted materials such as stones, wooden parts, metal parts, pieces of glass, plastic parts and the like from comminuted raw compost. It has a vibrating screen 14 to accommodate the material mixture, which executes a shaking or oscillating movement directed opposite to the passage direction of the unwanted materials to be sorted out. Sweeping strips 27 are provided above the vibrating screen 14, arranged transversely with respect to the passage direction 18 and moving in the passage direction. Provided on one end 11 of the vibrating screen 14 and underneath the same is a separator having continuously circulating transport means 8, 10. Arranged underneath the vibrating screen 14 is a circulating delivery belt 14, which carries the screened material out sideways and circulates continuously. The separator is constructed as a water container 16. Arranged in the water container 6, which is open at the top, is a continuously circulating scraper belt 8 and a continuously circulating conveyor belt 10. The scraper belt 8 and the conveyor belt 10 are arranged alongside each other.
