Measuring bulk material volume in storage container

The method for determining the volume of bulk material (1) introduced via a filling opening (4) to a container (1). The bulk material forms a conical mass (6) within the container. By means of a sensor (9) the maximum height (8) of the cone (8) is determined, and by means of two further sensors (10,11) at a known separation the cone angle (7) is measured. From the maximum height (8), angle (7) and the predetermined container geometry the volume of material (2) is calculated.
