PURPOSE:To obtain a polyamide resin foam having plenty of uniform fine cells and excellent heat resistance, chemical resistance, lightweightness, cushioning characteristics, flexibility and gas barrier properties by melt compounding and extrusion-foaming a thermoplastic polyamide resin and dimethyl ether. CONSTITUTION:The objective foam is obtained by melt compounding and extrusion-foaming a thermoplastic polyamide resin and dimethyl ether. As the resin to be used, nylon 6, nylon 66 and MXD 6 nylon are especially desirable. Together with the dimethyl ether used as the foaming agent, chlorofluorocarbon gas for improving the heat insulating properties of the foam, nitrogen gas, carbon dioxide, etc., for facilitating the formation of fine cells, and propane, butane, pentane, etc., for reducing the manufacturing cost can be added. In the production of the foam, it is desirable that a crosslinking agent is also added in order to produce the foam with an enhanced expansion ratio. |
