<p>Methods and apparatus for transforming input image data representing an image to produce output image data representing a transformed image are provided. Input image data is stored in a first memory in the form of input data blocks. Read addresses for reading the data from the first memory are produced in order to yield transformed data blocks each representing a portion of the transformed image. A depth value and depth gradients with respect to orthogonal directions of the transformed image are produced and, from these, a depth value for each pixel of each transformed data block is produced. Depth values of pixels of the transformed data blocks having the same position in the transformed image are compared to produce write enable data for storing the read addresses in a second memory, so that read addresses for data relatively closer to the point of view overwrite addresses of hidden data. The read addresses are read from the second memory circuit to the first memory circuit in order to read out the image data to produce the transformed data blocks.</p> |
