PURPOSE:To obtain an inexpensive grease which is highly effective in preventing a sliding noise and has antiwear properties by incorporating into a base grease a given amount of a powder of ultrahigh-mol.wt. polyethylene having a specific average particle diameter. CONSTITUTION:A base oil, e.g. a mineral oil or a poly(alpha-olefin), is mixed with a thickener (e.g. a lithium soap) to produce a base grease. Thereto is added 3-20wt.% powder of ultrahigh-mol.wt. polyethylene having an average particle diameter of 10-30mum. The grease thus produced is suited for use in, e.g. a control cable 1 consisting basically of an inner cable 2 and an outer casing 3. Applying this grease to either the surface of the cable 2 or the inner surface of the casing 3 is effective in preventing a sliding part from making a friction noise. |
