<p>PURPOSE:To attain a uniform contrast over the entire part of a display screen and to obviate generating of the unequal display part at the center of this screen by arranging the pixel electrodes and scanning electrodes of the upper screen and the lower screen to a shape symmetrical with the central line of the screen as a center and scanning the screen in a vertical direction from the center of the screen. CONSTITUTION:A first scanning electrode driving circuit 18 which is connected to the scanning electrodes 14 on the upper screen and impresses scanning signals scans the screens to the upper side from a boundary line 17 side on an active substrate 11. A second scanning electrode driving circuit 19 which is connected to the scanning electrodes 14 of the lower screen and impresses the scanning signals scans the screens to the lower side from the boundary line 17 side. Simultaneously, the scanning signals are sequentially impressed to the respective scanning electrodes 14 of the upper and lower screens. Then, the upper screen is impressed with the scanning signals upward from the center of the display screen and the lower screen is simultaneously impressed with the scanning signals downward from the center of the display screen. Image signals are impressed to signal electrodes 15 via a signal electrode driving circuit 10 on a counter substrate 12 in synchronization with the scanning signals, by which the images are displayed.</p> |
