PURPOSE: To form a thermal image on a base material by emitting radiation to an element containing the base material partly covered with a layer containing a black metal, having a wavelength of a specific range and a specific transmission optical density, increasing the light transmissivity of the element in an irradiated region, so as not to contain a gas generating polymer at a specific weight ratio or higher. CONSTITUTION: A thermally imageable medium, containing a glass or polymer film base material having a black metal layer of a white light transmission optical density of 0.3 in the wavelength of a range of 200 to 1,100 nm is obtained. A radiation of 220 to 1,100 nm is irradiated to the medium, and radiation sufficient to make the metal layer transparent in the region of emitting the radiation to the metal layer is absorbed by the metal layer. In the case of emitting the radiation for making the metal layer transparent, it is so set the base material does not contain a layer on the base material for generating a gas of at least 5 vol.%. |
