Mixer for mixing solid particulate material into liqs. consists of a mixing zone with a pointed conical section mounted below a liquor inlet which surrounds a conical solids inlet while the lower section of the vessel consists of a slurry feed container from which is the slurry outlet. The mixing zone consists of several pointed conical spaces mounted end to end with conical deflectors mounted inside them. Alternatively there can be a spiral channel below the conical inlet or pyramid shaped channels. Weak slurry can be drawn off the liquor surface and recycled. Used to make slurries for hydraulic conveying systems. Slurries obtd. have solids to liq. ratio of 1:1-3.
