PURPOSE:To obtain the subject material excellent in impact resistance, strength and rigidity, free from the danger of the falling of a thunderbolt, and useful for golf club shafts, automobiles, etc., by using polybenzazole fibers having a specific tensile strength, a specific initial tensile elastic modulus and a specific void diameter as a reinforcing material. CONSTITUTION:This material uses polybenzazole (e.g. a polymer comprising monomer units of formula I, II or III) fibers having a tensile strength of >=4.0GPa, an initial tensile elastic modulus of >=140GPa, and a void diameter of <=35Angstrom as a main reinforcing material. A matrix resin used for the objective material includes a thermosetting polymer material such as an unsaturated polyester resin or an epoxy resin, a thermoplastic polymer such as a nylon resin or a PP resin, an elastic polymer material and a rubber. |
